The draw for China Open 2012 has been released and Maria is seeded No.2. Maria will play her first round match in Beijing against Simona Halep of Romania.

Maria played against Halep just once before. The only match between them was this year at Indian Wells, where Maria won in straight sets: 6-3, 6-4.

End of road in Tokyo

Maria was defeated in quarterfinals at Toray Pan Pacific Open by Samantha Stosur of Australia in straight sets: 4-6, 6-7 after one hour and 53 minutes of play.

Maria made 32 unforced errors and had 19 winners, 5 double-faults and a 67% percentage on first serve.

The next tournament where we can see Maria is China Open in Beijing. The tournament starts on September 29th.

Tokyo Quarters

Maria reached to quarterfinals in Tokyo after she defeated Lucie Safarova of Czech Republic in straight sets: 6-2, 7-6 after one hour and 43 minutes of play.

It was important for Maria to win in straight sets after she had a tough 3 sets match yesterday against Watson. Against Safarova she had a percentage of 76% on her first serve, 24 unforced errors and 17 winners during all game.

In quarters, Maria will play against Samantha Stosur of Australia. On head to head, Maria leads Stosur: 10-1. Their last match was this year in Stuttgart on clay, where Maria won in 3 sets: 6-7, 7-6, 7-5.

Tough match for Maria at Toray Pan Pacific Open in 2n round. She defeated Heather Watson of United Kingdom in 3 sets: 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 after 3 hours and 9 minutes of play.

In 3rd orund, Maria will play either Lucie Safarova of Czech Republic. The overall score between Maria and Safarova is tied at 1. Their last match was this year in Madrid but Safarova was forced to retire due to illness.

Maria will play this year at Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, Japan. She has a "bye" in first round.
In 2nd round, Maria will play either Sabine Lisicki of Germany or Heather Watson of United Kingdom.

Her best result in Tokyo was in 2005 and 2009 when she won the trophy.

Goodbye US Open 2012

Maria lost in semifinals at US Open against Victoria Azarenka in 3 sets: 6-3, 2-6, 4-6 atfer 2 hour and 42 minutes.

The next tournament in Maria`s schedule is Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, Japan. The tournament begins on September 23rd.
