Maria No. 12 WTA !

Although she was eliminated in 3rd round at Indian Wells, Maria advances one place in WTA rankings. Maria is now No. 12 with 3185 points; before she was No. 13 !

So sorry that she can`t compete in Miami. I hope she will be back soon.

Maria out for 3-6 weeks !

Maria has had to pull out of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami which begins on March 23rd after an MRI revealed a bone bruise on her right elbow.  
Maria is expected to miss 3-6 weeks of competition.

You cannot win a match when you make 13 double-faults ! It`s impossible ! Maria has lost@Indian Wells in 3rd round against Zheng in 3 sets after 2 hours and 43 minutes.

Maria is in the 3rd round of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells after she won in 2nd round against Vera Dushevina from Russia in 3 sets: 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 in two hours and 18 minutes.

In 3rd round Maria will play against Jie Zheng from China on Sunday. Maria and Jie Zheng have played just once before and Maria won in tow sets at Japan Open in 2003.

Maria is seed No. 10 at Indian Wells and she will play directly in 2nd round either Jelena Dokic from Australia or Vera Dushevina from Russia.

Maria has played against Dokic and Dushevina just once since now and won both matches.

The BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells is Maria's next tournament.  Main draw action will start next Wednesday but as Maria will be seeded she will receive a bye and play her first match on either Friday or Saturday.

The main draw will take on Monday at 15.00 local time.

Last year Maria played doubles here as she was still rehabilitating her shoulder.  Maria has played Indian Wells 7 times before and her best result was taking the title in 2006.  Indian Wells is a premier mandatory event played on hardcourts.
