Maria won the second round match against Laura Robson of Great Britain in straight sets: 7-6, 6-3 after one hour and 46 minutes.

In 3rd round, Maria will play against Sabine Lisicki of Germany. On head to head, Maria leads Lisicki:  3-1. Their last match was this year at Wimbledon, when Maria lost in two sets: 4-6, 3-6.

First victory in London

Maria won the first round match at the Olympic Games in London against Shahar Peer in straight sets: 6-2, 6-0 after one hour and 5 minutes.

It was a game at Maria`s discretion, after she won the first set in 33 minutes and the second one after 32 minutes.

In second round, Maira will play either Lucie Safarova of Czech Republic or Laura Robson of Great Britain.

The draw for the Olympic Games 2012 has been released and Maria will play against Shahar Peer of Israel in 1st round.

On head to head, Maria leads Peer: 6-0. Their last match was this year in Miami, where Maria won in 3 sets: 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Shahar Peer is number 49 in WTA rankings.

Maria`s schedule after Olympic Games:

- 25th August - US Open
- 23rd September - Tolyo - Toray Pan Pacific Open

At the end of the year is WTA Championships in Istanbul but Maria hasn`t qualified, officilay speaking.

Goodbye Wimbledon !

Maria lost in 4th round at Wimbledon against Sabine Lisicki of Germany in straight sets: 4-6, 3-6 afte one hour and 20 minutes.

It was a perfect start for Maria in the match against Lisicki, she made the break in debut, but the score was tied at 1 because Lisicki rebreaked  immediately.
At 1-2, Maria lost her serve and the difference was even higher after the german player won her serve (1-4).
At 3-5 when Lisicki served to win the first set, Maria made the break, but unfortunately she lost her serve and the first set, 4-6.

In second set, at 0-0 (15/30) when Lisicki served the match was suspended due to rain.
After the match continued, Lisicki won her serve. At 0-1, Maria lost her serve and she was leaded 0-3 after Lisicki won her serve.
At 2-5, Maria served to remain in the second set and she forced Lisicki to serve for the match.

In the end , Maria lost the second set (3-6) and the match.

Olympic Games at Wimbledon, next stop for Maria.
