Maria withdraws from Rogers Cup

Maria has withdrawn from Rogers Cup with a right leg strain.

She said: I`m verry disappointed to have to withdraw from next week`s Rogers Cup due to a right leg strain that occurred in training a few days ago. I did everything possible to be ready , but my doctors have advised me that I can`t compete next week. The Rogers Cup is one of the best events on the WTA and I will miss my amazing fans."

The next tournament in Maria`s schedule is Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati. The tournament starts on August 17th.

Maria lost in 3rd Round at Rogers Cup in Montreal against Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain in 3 sets: 2-6, 6-4, 2-6.

The next tournament for Maria is Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati. The tournament starts on August 11.

US Open series started

Victory for Maria in Montreal after she defeated Garbine Muguruza of Spain in 2nd Round at Rogers Cup: 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 after 2 hours and 11 minutes of play.

After the match, Maria said: "It's been a few weeks since I've been in a competitive atmosphere. It's always quite different than practice no matter how much you train. Once you step on the court, you feel the energy from the crowd and you get inspired by everything, but you're ultimately a bit rusty. I'm just happy that I got through that and won today because I had a very tough opponent."

Vi In 3rd Round, Maria will play agianst another spanish player, this time against Carla Suarez Navarro. On head to head, Maria leads Navarro: 1-0. Their single match was last year in Indian Wells, when Maria won in straight sets: 7-5, 6-3.

About her next opponent, Maria said: "She's a different type of opponent than I played today. She has a little bit more variety, a one-handed backhand, uses her slice extremely well, and also moves around the court quite well. I expect a physical match from her. You never quite know what you're going to get, especially when you haven't faced an opponent in a while. I'm looking forward to it."

End of road for Maria at Wimbledon after she lost the 4th Round match against Angelique Kerber of Germany in 3 sets: 6-7, 6-4, 4-6.

Maria has withdrawn from Rogers Cup - Toronto due to the same hip injury who caused her withdrawal from Stanford.

In Maria`s schedule the next tournament is Wester & Southern Open in Cincinnati. The tournament begins on August 12.

Maria withdraws from Rogers Cup

Maria is out from Rogers Cup, Montreal due to a stomach virus.
Maria said: " It`s unfortunate I had to withdraw late this morning, from the stomach illness I`ve had the last couple of days".

"I was here ready to play the tournament. You just have to make the best decision for your body."

"I haven`t had something like this since I can remember, so for me it`s something different. I was hoping I would recover faster than I did, but I`m certainly not ready to compete yet."

If she recovers fast, the next tournament in Maria`s schedule is Western & Southern Open, Cincinnati.
The tournament begins on August 11th.

At the end of the year is WTA Championships in Istanbul but Maria hasn`t qualified, officilay speaking.

Important victory

Maria started with a victory her 2011 Rogers Cup adventure, after she defeated Bojana Jovanovski in straight sets: 6-1, 7-5, after one hour and 33 minutes.

As we can all see the first set was easy, in the second set were some problems, definetly the second set was more balanced than the first one.

In the next match, Maria will play against Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan. The overall score between Maria and Voskoboeva is 1-0 for Maria.
