Maria moved into the 3rd round of the Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open in Cincinnati after she defeated Andrea Petkovic of Germany 6-3 6-1 in 1 hour and 23 minutes.
In Maria's first match against the German, she took a 4-1 lead. Petkovic then took the next 2 games, Maria re-took control of the set by taking the 2 more games to take the first set 6-3 in 43 minutes.
Maria went down with an early break at the beginning of the second set but came storming back to take the next 6 games to take the set 6-1.

Ce debut la Cincinnati !
Maria a castigat in primul tur la Cincinnati, invingand`o pe Svetlana Kuznetsova in trei seturi: 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 dupa 2 ore si 12 minute !
Sa fiu sincer nu credeam ca Maria poate sa o invinga pe Kuznetsova.... pana una-alta Maria este in turul 2.
In turul 2, Maria va juca impotriva lui Andrea Petkovic. Cele doua jucatoare nu s`au mai intalnit pana acum.

Ouch ! Tough opponent !
The draw for the Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open in Cincinnati has been released and Maria is the #10 seed and will play Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia in the 1st round on Tuesday.
Maria has played Kuznetsova 8 times before and the series is tied 4-4, all but 1 meeting was on played on hardcourts.
The first seed Maria can meet is #7 seed Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland in the 3rd round.
This is Maria's 2nd event out of 3 on her road to the US Open and is her first appearance here in the Premier 5 event.

Nu`i nimic !
Maria a pierdut finala turneului de la Stanford, fiind invinsa de Victoria Azarenka in 2 seturi: 4-6, 1-6. O victorie destul de clara a jucatoarei din Belarus.
Am avut ocazia sa vad meciul si chiar daca Maria a pierdut, pot spune ca n`a jucat rau, chiar mi`a placut sa vad la ea ca numarul dublelor greseli a scazut foarte mult si mi`a mai placut ceva: faptu` ca a riscat pe loviturile decisive.
A pierdut finala, insa a pierdut`o in fata unei jucatoare care a fost mai buna ca ea, Azarenka aratand o forma impresionanta in aceasta finala.
Urmatorul turneu la care Maria va participa este turneul de la Cincinnati, ce urmeaza sa inceapa pe 7 August.
