Long hair, eventually...

Maria on Facebook: Wow, when I posted those pohots with the short hair I had no idea everyone would all go bananza.... (my dear friends, I never actually said I cut my hair!) so for the sake of my email inbox and it`s stressful 24 hours, I would like to show you the below pictures... my hair is still long... and blonde... and well it`s pretty much the same! We did a shoot a few days ago and I sported all types of hair styles.. long and yes short (a wig!!!).

Maria on her Facebook page

I was debating whether to wear my hair down or in a ponytail with my very grown up Suno look tonight...ponytail won. When multiple choice is involved, I`m all over the easiest option. Do you like it?

Facebook message

Oh the minutes before heading to a red carpet event...as you see it's not as glamorous as it looks. I prefer to cuddle in the blanket until the very last minute. The event? Post Oscar Vanity Fair. I will have to show you a picture of the fancy invitation!

Maria arrived in Russia

Well I made it to Moscow and I have realized that no clothing, jacket, cashmere or shuba (russian fur coat) will save you from this cold. I've simply given up trying to add more layers either.
On a warmer note, here I am at the Olympic stadium in shorts and a t-shirt meeting a Russian junior, Veronika Kudermetova, who wears my Nike collection. Can you believe she's 14? She's almost my height!

Message from Maria

Hi everyone, Unfortunately, I had to pull out of the Brisbane tournament yesterday. My ankle only recently started feeling good and therefore I want to make sure I'm fully ready for the coming year by not rushing into things too fast.

On the other hand, its Christmas Eve and you know how much I love to play Santa! Still have a few presents to wrap. Got a bit carried away at the Grand Bazaar in Turkey a week ago, so many beautiful things!
Wishing everyone a wonderful Holiday!

Maria`s Chernobyl message

25 years ago today, my life changed forever and I was not even born yet!! I know that sound impossible, but when the worst nuclear disaster in the history of the world happened 40 miles from where my entire family lived, life changed for many families like mine. Soon after the disaster my mother became pregnant with little old me!!! My parents had to act fast because this was no place to be pregnant and have a baby. Luckily, my Grandparants were working in western Siberia and we fled to the city of Nyagan, where I was born. Two years later, my parents still did not want to bring me back near the disaster and we moved to Sochi, Russia. I started playing tennis at age 4 and I think everyone knows the story from there.

BUT!!! The story people don't know is what I want to focus on today. How one disaster completely effected one area in the world and how 25 years later it still haunts my people.  But today I want to thank and remember all the great heroes and their families that sacrificed their lives to help people during this disaster. I want to focus on the future and give everyone hope in this region that they can live normal lives, and dream BIG. Please take the time to "click" around my special Chernobyl page on my site if you would like to learn more about Chernobyl and how you can help.
