Maria reached to Madrid final

Maria defeated Ana Ivanovic of Serbia in Madrid semifinal in straight sets: 6-4, 6-3 after one hour and 18 minutes of play and reached to Mutua Madrid Open 2013 final. This was the victory No. 500 of her career.

Both sets between Maria and the Serbian player lasted 39 minutes.

After this important victory, Maria will play the final in Madrid against Serena Williams of United States.

The last time when Maria won against Serena Williams was in 2004 at WTA Tour Championships in Los Angeles.

Another great victory for Maria at Mutua Madrid Open. She deefated Sabine Lisicki of Germany in straight sets: 6-2, 7-5 after one hour and 40 minutes.

After this important victory Maria is in quarterfinals where she will play either Kaia Kanepi of Estonia or Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia.

Maria leads Kanepi: 1-0. Their only match was last year at Roland Garros where Maria won in straight sets: 6-2, 6-3.Also, on head to head Maria leads Hantuchova: 8-1. Their last match in 2011 in Stanford, where Maria won the match in 3 sets: 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
