RG Quarters !

Tough match for Maria in 4th Round against Radwanska. After Agnieszka leaded Maria with 4-1, Sharapova managed to recover the difference and won the the first set on tie break: 7-6.

The second set was also disputed, but once again Maria proved that she is in a good shape and won also the second set and the match. So, 7-6, 7-5 for Maria after 2 hours against Radwasnka.

Maria is now in quarterfinals at Roland Garros, where she will play against either Andrea Petkovic or Maria Kirilenko.

Maria won her 3rd Round match at Roland Garros against Yung-Jan Chan from Taipei in straight sets: 6-2, 6-3 after one hour and 29 minutes.

Last year, Maria stopped in 3rd Round so it means that she did one step forward than last year.Good match made by Maria with a lot of points won by her with the first service.

Maria is now in 4th Round where she will face Agniesza Radwanska of Poland. The overall score between Maria and Radwanska is 6-1 for Maria !

First excitement

Maria started slow her 2nd Round match against Caroline Garcia and lost the first set: 4-6. Even the beginning of the second set was problematic, but Maria managed to recover from 1-4 to 6-4, so five games in a row for Maria.

The last set was no problem, 6-0 for Maria, so eleven games in a row, but Garcia showed some great tennis in the first set.

So, Maria won in three sets: 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 and she is now in 3rd Round at Roland Garros, where she will play against Yung-jan Chan. The overall score between Maria and Chan is 2-0 for Maria.

The title with number 23 came today for Maria at Internazionali BNL D`Italia in Rome.

Maria is queen in Rome, after she defeated Samantha Stosur in straight sets: 6-2, 6-4 after 1 hour and 29 minutes and won the title !

Fantastic game made by Maria, another one after the match against Wozniacki in semis. Fantastic game, fantastic week on clay ! CONGRATULATIONS, MARIA !!!

This is the first and most importan tournament on clay that Maria won in her all career ! After this successful result, Maria will make another step forward in WTA rankings - No. 7 !

Maria is in semifinals after Azarenka`s unwanted injury, where she will play against the first seeded player, No.1 in WTA rankings, Caroline Wozniacki from Denmark.

The overall score between Maria and Wozniacki is tied at 2.
