Maria storms Cadantu !
Maria won the first round match at Roland Garros against Alexandra Cadantu without losing a game ! So, a straight set vitctory for Maria: 6-0, 6-0 !
The score says it all. In second round Maria will play against Ayumi Morita of Japan. This will be the first match between them.

Maria starts her Roland Garros adventure in first round against Alexandra Cadantu of Romania. This will be the first match between Maria Sharapova and Alexandra Cadantu.
Her best result was in 2007 and 2011 when she reached to semifinals.

Back to Back !
Maria defeated Na Li of China in Rome final: 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 after 2 hours and 52 minutes of play and 2 interruptions due to rain.
At 0-4 in second set, Maria won 6 games in a row and won the second set after 51 minutes.
In 3rd set, Maria made the break and she leaded 2-0 after she won her serve and most important after she saved 3 break points.At 3-1, Maria made the break again in 3rd set, but Na Li made the re-break quickly and the score was 4-2 for Maria.
At 4-3, Maria lost again her serve and the score was tied at 4 and at 4-5 she served to remain in the final but she managed to won her game.
At 5-5 (30/30) the final was shortly interrupteddue to rain. After Maria saved one match-point , she send the last set to a tie-break and the final was suspended again due to rain.
After 2 hours of break, the final started and Maria won the tie-break at 5 and kept the trophy at Internazionali BNL d`Italia that she won last year against Stosur.
The next tournament where we can see Maria is Roland Garros. The French Open starts on May 27.

One more step
Maria is one step away to keep the title that she won last year at Internazionali BNL d`Italia. She defeated Angelique Kerber in semifinals in straight sets: 6-3, 6-4 after one hour and 29 minutes of play.
In the last act, Maria will playa gainst Na Li of China. Maria leads Li on head to head, 6-4. Their last match was this year in Miami where Maria won in straight sets: 6-3, 6-0 !

Maria in Rome semifinals
Maria took another step forward at Internazionali BNL d`Italia after she defeated Venus Williams of United States. Maria won in straight sets: 6-4, 6-3 after one hour and 41 minutes of play and she is in semifinals.
It is a fact that Maria feels good on clay after she won last year in Rome, reached in Roland Garros 2011 semifinals and won this year in Stuttgart also on clay.
In Rome semifinals, Maria will play either Angelique Kerber of Germany or Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic. Against Kerber the overall score is tied at 1. Against Kvitova the score is 3-2 for Maria. Last match against Kvitova was this year in Stuttgart semifinal when Maria won in straight sets: 6-4, 7-6.

Quarters in Rome !
Maria won the match against Ana Ivanovic of Serbia in straight sets: 7-6, 6-3 after one hour and 47 minutes and she is in quarterfinals at Internazionali BNL d`Italia.
In first set, at 4-5 for Ivanovic, the serbian player served for winning the first set, but Maria made the break and the score was tied at 5.
In the end, the set was decided at tie-break and Maria won the tie-break at 4.
The beginning of the second set was perfect for Maria because she made the break but Ivanovic re-breaked immediately.
At1-2, Maria lost her serve but she made the break fast (2-3) and after she won her serve the score was tied at 3.
At 3-3, Maria made the break and she had a good opportunity to solve the match and she did it by winning the final game of the match at 5-3 on Ivanovic serve.
In quarters, Maria will play against Venus Williams of United States. The overall score between Maria and Venus Williams is tied at 3. Their last match was 3 years ago, in 2009 in Stanford where Venus defetead Maria : 6-2, 6-2.

First victory in Rome
Maria won the match against Christina McHale of United States in straight sets: 7-5, 7-5.
In first set, at 1-2 Maria lost her serve and she was leaded by McHale, 1-3. At 2-4, Maria made the break but unfortunately she lost her serve and the score was 3-5 witch McHale to serve for the set. At this score, Maria made the break and the score was tied at 5 after Maria won her serve.
At 5-5, Maria made the break once again in this first set. In the end, Maria won the first set (7-5) after one hour and 11 minutes.
In the beginning of the second set, Maria made the break but she lost her serve and the score was tied at 1. At 5-5, Maria made the break in a perfect moment and she served for the match. She won the second set and the match after 2 hours and 12 minutes.
In 3rd round, Maria will play either Ana Ivanovic of Serbia or Silvia Soler-Espinosa of Spain.
On head to head, Maria leads Ivanovic (4-2), their last match was this year at Indian Wells when Maria won in straight sets: 6-4, 0-1 after Ivanovic retired. Against Soler-Espinosa the score is 1-0 for Maria.

Maria in Rome
Maria has a 'bye" in first round at Internazionali BNL d`Italia because she is seeded No. 2.
In 2nd round, Maria will play either Christina McHale of United States or Monica Niculescu of Romania. Maria never played against Niculescu before and against McHale on head to head the score is 1-0 for Maria.
The only match between them was 3 years ago at U.S. Open when Maria won in straight sets: 6-2, 6-1.

Maria eliminated from Mutua Madrid Open
Maria was defeated in Madrid by Serena Williams in straight sets: 1-6, 3-6.
In first set at 1-2, Maria lost her serve. The same story happened at 1-4 and in the end she lost the first set, 1-6 after only 27 minutes.
In the beginning of the second set, Maria lost her serve and she was leaded, 0-2 after Serena won her serve. At 1-2, Maria made the break for the first time in this match and the score was tied at 2 in second set. At 2-2, Maria lost her serve once again and at 3-5, Serena made the break again and Maria lost the match in this quarterfinal in Madrid.
Next stop for Maria is Internazionali BNL d`Italia in Rome. She must defened the title that she won last year.

Maria in quarters after Safarova retired
Maria reached to quarterfinals at Mutua Madrid Open after Lucie Safarova had to retire from the tournament due to illness.
In quarters, Maria will play either Serena Williams of United States or Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark.
On head to head series, Maria leads Wozniacki ,4-2. Their last match was this year in Miami semifinals when Maria won in 3 sets: 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
Against Serena Williams, Maria is leaded, 2-7. Last match between Maria and Serena Williams was last year in Stanford when Serena won in straight sets: 6-1, 6-3.
