Maria took another step forward at Internazionali BNL d`Italia after she defeated Venus Williams of United States. Maria won in straight sets: 6-4, 6-3 after one hour and 41 minutes of play and she is in semifinals.
It is a fact that Maria feels good on clay after she won last year in Rome, reached in Roland Garros 2011 semifinals and won this year in Stuttgart also on clay.
In Rome semifinals, Maria will play either Angelique Kerber of Germany or Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic. Against Kerber the overall score is tied at 1. Against Kvitova the score is 3-2 for Maria. Last match against Kvitova was this year in Stuttgart semifinal when Maria won in straight sets: 6-4, 7-6.
