Maria won the match against Ana Ivanovic of Serbia in straight sets: 7-6, 6-3 after one hour and 47 minutes and she is in quarterfinals at Internazionali BNL d`Italia.
In first set, at 4-5 for Ivanovic, the serbian player served for winning the first set, but Maria made the break and the score was tied at 5.
In the end, the set was decided at tie-break and Maria won the tie-break at 4.
The beginning of the second set was perfect for Maria because she made the break but Ivanovic re-breaked immediately.
At1-2, Maria lost her serve but she made the break fast (2-3) and after she won her serve the score was tied at 3.
At 3-3, Maria made the break and she had a good opportunity to solve the match and she did it by winning the final game of the match at 5-3 on Ivanovic serve.
In quarters, Maria will play against Venus Williams of United States. The overall score between Maria and Venus Williams is tied at 3. Their last match was 3 years ago, in 2009 in Stanford where Venus defetead Maria : 6-2, 6-2.
