Maria had a tough match against Nadia Petrova of Russia. Fortunately she managed to defeat Petrova in 3 sets: 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 after 2 hours and 13 minutes
This quarterfinal is her better result since 2006 when she won the trophy at Flushing Meadows. In 2007, 2009, 2011 she stopped in 3rd round, in 2010 she stopped in 4th round and in 2008 didn`t participate.
In quarterfinal, Maria will play against Marion Bartoli of France. On head to head, the score is 4-0 for Maria. Their last match was in 2010 in Cincinnnati, where Maria won in straight sets: 6-1, 6-4.
