The draw for China Open 2012 has been released and Maria is seeded No.2. Maria will play her first round match in Beijing against Simona Halep of Romania.

Maria played against Halep just once before. The only match between them was this year at Indian Wells, where Maria won in straight sets: 6-3, 6-4.
