Goodbye Australian Open 2013
Unfortunately, Maria lost the semifinal against Na Li of China in straight sets: 2-6, 2-6 after one hour and 33 minutes.
So, Maria will lose some points in the WTA rankings after she played the final in Melbourne last year.
Maria`s next tournament is Qatar Total Open in Doha . The tournament starts on February 11th.

Another step forward for Maria at Australian Open 2013 after she defeated Ekaterina Makarova of Russia in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2 after one hour and 6 minutes.
After another straight set victory, Maria reached to semifinals and she will play against Na Li of China.
On head to head, Maria leads Li: 8-4. Their last match was last year in Beijing semifinal where Maria won in straight sets: 6-4, 6-0.

Aussie Open quarters
Another straight set victory for Maria in Melbourne. She defeated Kirsten Flipkens of Blegium: 6-1, 6-0 after only one hour and 7 minutes.
Maria did not lose a set in this tournament and lost only 5 games this year at Australian Open.
In quarterfinal, Maria will play against Ekaterina Makarova of Russia. Maria played last year against Makarova in Melbourne and she defeated her in straight sets: 6-2, 6-3, but thier last match was last year in Miami where Maria won again in straight sets: 6-4, 7-6. The overall score is 4-0 for Maria.

Maria in 4th round
Important victory for Maria against a tough opponent at Australian Open. She defeated Venus Williams of United States in straight sets: 6-1, 6-3 and reached to 4th round at the first Grand Slam of the year.
The match was not so easy, but with 17 winners and 4 aces, Maria won and made another step forward.
In 4th round, Maria will play against Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium. On head to head, Maria leads Flipkens: 2-0. Their last match was in 2010 at Roland Garros where Maria won in straight sets: 6-3, 6-3.
