No problem for Maria in quarterfials at Open GDF Suez. Maria defeated Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2 after one hour and 9 minutes of play.
In semifinals, Maria will play against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia. On head to head, Maria leads Pavlyuchenkova: 1-0. The only match between them was in 2010 in Cincinnati, where Maria won in 3 sets: 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
About the semifinal, Maria said: "We haven't played against each other in quite a bit of time. She's playing really well this year and had a great win today, so I'm sure she'll be really confident going into tomorrow.
"It's always tough to play another Russian but it's good to know one of us will be in the finals."
