Maria lost the semifinal against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia in 3 sets: 6-4, 3-6, 4-6.

The next tournament in Maria`s schedule is BNP Paribas Open - Indian Wells. The tournament begins on March 5th.

Maria into Paris semis

No problem for Maria in quarterfials at Open GDF Suez. Maria defeated Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2 after one hour and 9 minutes of play.

In semifinals, Maria will play against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia. On head to head, Maria leads Pavlyuchenkova: 1-0. The only match between them was in 2010 in Cincinnati, where Maria won in 3 sets: 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.

About the semifinal, Maria said: "We haven't played against each other in quite a bit of time. She's playing really well this year and had a great win today, so I'm sure she'll be really confident going into tomorrow.

"It's always tough to play another Russian but it's good to know one of us will be in the finals."

Only one game lost Maria in 2nd Round at Open GDF Suez against Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia: 6-0, 6-1 after one hour and 10 minutes.

Maria is now in quarterfinal where she will play against either Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium or Yvonne Meusburger of Austria.

Game over for Maria at this Asutralian Open edition. She was defeated by Dominika Cibulkova of Slovakia in 3 sets: 6-3, 4-6, 1-6.

Open GDF Suez is the next tournament in Maria`s schedule. The tournament begins on January 27th.

Game over at Open GDF Suez

Maria lost in quarterfinals at Open GDF Suez against Angelique Kerber in straight sets: 4-6, 4-6 after 1 hour and 30 minutes.

In first set when the score was 4-2 for Maria, Kerber won 4 games in a row and at 4-5, Maria was obligated to win her game to remain in the first set, but the german player made the break and won the first set after 36 minutes.

In the second set, at 1-1 Maria made the break and after that she won her serve for a 3-1 lead, but Kerber managed to make 3-3 immediately. In the end, the story was the same, at 4-5, Maria lost her serve and also the match.

The next tournament where we can see Maria is Indian Wells. The tournament begins on 7th of March.

Quarters in Paris

Maria defeated Chanelle Schepeers in straight sets: 6-3, 6-1 at Open GDF Suez and it`s in quarterfinal.

In the first set at 1-1 were 4 breaks, 2 on each side and that`s because of the surface wich is very fast in Paris.. At 3-3, Maria made once again the break and after this break she conserved her service to make 5-3. Maria won the first set after 35 minutes, 6-3 with another break.

In the second set at 1-0, Maria made the break to lead 2-0. In the end she won the second set (6-1) and the match after 1 hour and 8 minutes.

In quarterfinal, Maria will play either Angelique Kerber of Germany or Monica Niculescu of Romania. The match is scheduled on Friday.

After she helped Russia to advance in semifinals, Maria will play in Paris at Open GDF Suez. At this tournament Maria is the first seed and has a bye in 1st Round.

In second Round, Maria will play either Polona Hercog or Chanelle Scheepers.
