The draw for the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford has been released and Maria is seeded #5 and will play Jie Zheng of China in the 1st round. Maria has played Zheng twice before and the series is tied 1-1, both matches were on hardcourts. This match will be played under the lights on Tuesday night and will begin at 19.00PT.
The first seed Maria can meet is #2 seed Elena Dementieva of Russia in the quarters.
Stanford is a Premier $700K event played on hardcourts. Maria made her one and only appearance last year and reached the quarters.
