Maria won her first match at Bank of the West Classic in Stanford agasint Daniela Hantuchova in 3 sets: 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
Important victory against a tough opponent and this is only the beginning, because in quarter-final, Maria will play either Serena Williams or Maria Kirilenko.
The match is scheduled on Friday.
