Maria moved into the 3rd round of the Western & Southern Financial Group Women's Open in Cincinnati after she defeated Andrea Petkovic of Germany 6-3 6-1 in 1 hour and 23 minutes.
In Maria's first match against the German, she took a 4-1 lead. Petkovic then took the next 2 games, Maria re-took control of the set by taking the 2 more games to take the first set 6-3 in 43 minutes.
Maria went down with an early break at the beginning of the second set but came storming back to take the next 6 games to take the set 6-1.
