Maria won the match against Klara Zakopalova in 3 sets: 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 after almost 3 hours and 11 minutes. Definitely was the toughest game at Roland Garros with errors from both sides and with more than 17 breaks.
The beginning of the match was perfect for Maria, she made the break, but after that she lost her serve (1-1). At 1-1, Maria made again the break and leaded 3-1 in first set after she won her serve.
At 5-2, whne she served for the set, Maria lost her game but in the end she managed to win the first set, 6-4 after 57 minutes. 7 breakes were in this first set.
In second set, Maria made the break again in debut, but Zakoplova tied the score at 1 immediately. Maria won again on Zakopalova`s serve (the 3rd consecutive break of the second set) and leaded 3-1 after winning her serve.
At 4-3, Maria lost her serve, but made the break immediately and she served for the match, but Zakopalova made the break (5-5)
After another break from Maria, at 6-5 she served again for the match but the second set was decided on tie-break. Unfortunately, Maria lost the tie-break at 5.
In 3rd set, Maria made the break after she won her serve in debut. At 4-1, Maria made the break and she served for the 3rd time for match but it was the same story, Zakopalova made the break.
Finally, Maria won the 3rd set on Zakopalova`s serve and the toughest match in Paris this year.
After this incredible match, Maria is in quarters at Roland Garros and her next opponent will be decided between Arantxa Rus of Netherlands and Kaia Kanepi of Estonia.
