Tough and long match for Maria in 3rd round at London 2012 Olympic Games. She won in 3 sets: 6-7, 6-4, 6-3 after 2 hours and 47 mintues of play and she is in quarterfinals. So, the loss from Wimbledon is avenged.
In quarterfinals, Maria will play against Kim Clijsters of Belgium. On head to head, Maria is leaded by Clijsters: 3-5. Their last match was in 2010 in Cincinnati where Clijsters won in 3 sets: 2-6, 7-6, 6-2.
