Tough !

Maria was tested by Makarova in 4th Round at Sony Ericsson Open. At 3-2, in the first set, Maria made the break and after that she won her serve for a 5-2 lead.
When Maria served for the set, Makarova made the break, but after that Maria made the reabreak and won the first set (6-4) after one hour.

In the beginning of the second set Maria won her serve and after that made the break for a 2-0 lead. At 2-0, Makarova made the break and shortly after that the score was tied at 2.

At 3-3, Makarova made the break with some help from Maria who made 3 double-faults during that game, but she made the reabreak very fast. Same story happened at 5-5 and it was a tie-break in the second set.

Maria won the tie-break at 3. During the entire match, Maria made 11 double-faults and 53 unforced errors, so not the best day for Maria but it`s important that she managed to win this match.

So, after 2 hours and 13 minutes, Maria defeated Ekaterina Makarova in straight sets: 6-4, 7-6 and she is in quarterfinals where she will play either Na Li of China or Sabine Lisicki of Germany.

UPDATE: Maria Sharapova vs Na Li. The overall score between them is 5-4 for Maria and the last match was last year at WTA Championships when Na Li won in straight sets: 7-6, 6-4.
