This quarterfinal match was way easier than the match against Zakopalova. Maria won the match against Kaia Kanepi of Estonia in straight sets: 6-2, 6-3 after one hour and 14 minutes.
The quarterfinal started well for Maria, she made the break, but Kanepi rebreaked immediately (1-1). At 1-1, Maria made again the break and after this good moment she managed to conserve the break by winning her serve (3-1).
At 4-2, it was another break for Maria and she served for the set. Maria won the first set, 6-2 after 35 minutes.
In second set, at 0-1 Maria lost her serve and she was leaded 0-2, but she recovered the lost game immediately and tied the score at 2 after she won her serve. At 2-2, Maria made again the break and leaded 4-2 after conserving her service and took an important step to win the match.
At 5-2, Maria served for match, but she lost her serve. In the end, Sharapova won the second set (6-3) with a break and the match.
In semifinals, Maria will play either Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan or Petra Kvitova of Czech Repbulic.
