Maria is in 3rd round at Wimbledon after a tough match against Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria. Maria won in 3 sets: 7-6, 6-7, 6-0 after 2 hours and 25 minutes.
In first set after Maria lost her serve, at 2-5 she saved one set point and after she managed to win her serve. Fortunately at 3-5, Maria made the break and once again she served to remain in this first set and after she saved another set point and the score was tied at 5.
At 5-6, Maria saved on her serve another 3 set points and the first set was decided on tie-break. Maria won the tie-break at 3 and the first set after more than one hour of play.
In second set, at 2-1 Maria made the break and the score was 3-1. This was the moment when the match was suspended due to bad light. When the match restarted, Maria lost her serve and the score was quickly tied at 3 after Pironkova won her serve.
Like the first set, the second one was also decided on tie-break. Unfortunately, Maria lost the tie-break at 3 after she made 3 double-faults.
In the beginning of 3rd set, Maria made the break and leaded 2-0 after she won her serve. At 2-0, it was another break for her and after she leaded confortably, 4-0.
The 5th consecutive game for Maria in 3rd set was on Pironkova`s serve, so it was the break number 3 and she served for the match.
In the end, Maria won the 3rd set at zero and the match.
In 3rd Round, Maria will play against Su-Wei Hsieh of Taipei. This will be the first match between them.
